Starbridge Media Group Secures NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Grant on Behalf of Stanford University

Stanford Turns to Starbridge to Develop Grant Initiative for 2010-11 Season

Starbridge Media Group, Inc. has developed and secured grant funding from the NCAA on behalf of Stanford University’s elite women’s basketball program, Starbridge CEO Jamie Crittenberger announced today.

Working in coordination with the women’s basketball staff at Stanford, Starbridge has planned a season-long initiative in which elementary students in grades three through five will participate in three literacy contests throughout the course of the season 2010-11 Cardinal women’s basketball season.  The literacy contests will be centered around core values reflective of Stanford basketball, and will feature key alumni, hand-selected by Head Coach Tara VanDerveer.

The contests will be available in both online and print formats, enabling access to a wide audience and diverse demographic. Contest winners will have their stories developed into a smart-phone application and will be featured in a Stanford-branded children’s book. All participants will receive ticket vouchers to select women’s basketball games through this initiative approved by the NCAA.

The multi-platform marketing and outreach initiative entitled, “Where Are They Now? Where Are You Going?” will unite some of Stanford’s most prominent women’s basketball alumni, with thousands of students across the Bay area.

The NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Grant program was developed in 2007 as a three-year pilot program to promote the sport of women’s basketball at the grass roots level, as well as to generate attendance and revenue for participating programs. Starbridge previously executed an NCAA Grant program for the University of South Carolina women’s basketball team.

“Starbridge is extremely honored to partner with one of the leading women’s basketball programs and coaches in the entire country,” said Starbridge President Ken Hutman.  “This literacy program presents a wonderful opportunity for children to connect with Stanford women’s basketball on multiple platforms, as well as to interact with some of the greatest female athletes ever to play the sport. We look forward to working with Stanford on this exciting and unique initiative.”
